We have been quite blessed with good weather lately, so on Sunday afternoon we took a long stroll along the river. We first hit the Ecologic Park, where we enjoyed a nice picnic and some relaxation; we then headed to Surrey Docks Farm, where we played with the animals, and this time Emilia was much less scared and was happy to walk around by herself. At the farm we also bought fresh eggs with which we made a big and super yummy courgettes frittata for dinner. On the way back we also hit an outdoor gym where we all gave it a go and had lots of fun. It was another beautiful family day out. I am so so happy my parents are in town! Well, as I write, they are actually enjoying a three-day mini holiday in Bruges...but they will be back soon, very soon, and Emilia can't wait for her *regalo*!

At the farm, again!
It's another Bank Holiday weekend here in the UK, hurray! And like for the first May bank holiday we decided to go to Surrey Docks Farm, this time, however, without our little friend Elias. The farm in itself is very nice to visit but what we really love is the walk from our flat to the farm. It takes approximately 40 minutes to get there on foot, partially following the Thames path and partially getting lost in the lovely ecological park. We have already decided to go back in July when my parents will be in town and we will take a nice pic-nic there altogether. I can't wait!
Emilia still doesn't feel very comfortable around animals. The moment we entered the farm's gate and she saw the first animals, she started saying bye-bye. Nonetheless, we insisted a little bit and took a tour of the farm because we want her to get used to them. We saw pigs and piglets, cows, goats, sheep, chickens, roosters, ducks and geese and we even bought fresh eggs from the local little shop. When we left Emilia said all the animals we had seen, which was cute. Hopefully next time we go she won't be afraid of them!
For all the UK based readers, I hope you are having a wonderful Bank Holiday weekend!

Bank Holiday Monday
The Bank Holiday weekend ended in a wonderful way! We spent the whole afternoon wandering around our area and discovering places we had never been before. We live in zone 1, in a very central location and yet, just a few minutes off the beaten path we are immersed in a wonderful park. It felt like beeing in the countryside. We all loved it.
Our friends Katharina and Bereshad, and of course their son Elias, Emilia's best friend (dare I say lover?!) showed us the way to Surrey Docks farm through a lovely Ecological Park. The farm is just a forty minute walk from our flat and just on the other side of the new city district of Canary Wharf. The views were spectacular.
You know how much I love taking Emilia to the farm, I have blogged about it before. Usually, we go to Hackney City Farm but this one is even bigger, nicer and closer! We first took a tour of the farm where we saw pigs and piglets, donkeys, cows and goats. Then we moved to the vegetable garden where I showed to Emilia all the different vegetables. She loves her greens so she was quite interested. And finally, we sat at the lovely cafe' and enjoyed a drink.
Walking home took quite some time as the kids wanted to walk on their own. It was so cute to see them interact and when their little legs got tired, they found rest in their strollers while still holding hands...
Before heading home, since we were all having a great time, we stopped at a local pub. The owners have a little toddler themselves so the beer garden is very baby friendly and Elias and Emilia certainly enjoyed all the toys while we chatted and sipped some nice Pimm's and refreshing beers!
What a lovely time we had. I can't wait for the next Bank Holiday weekend!!
