Tree Trimming Party

And speaking of Xmas trees, this afternoon we headed to Natalie and Dave's for some good tree trimming. We had such a great time. We listened to Xmas songs, decorated cookies, built a gingerbread house, and of course trimmed a beautiful Christmas tree. There is something magical about Christmas and it was simply wonderful to spend some relaxing time with good friends. All the guests contributed with some decorations and despite the fact that they were all different, they perfectly glued together in the end, and the final product is simply amazing, I think. Have a look.

We brought a purple felt Xmas tree that I made and four ginger-men decorations. Other decorations included vintage-looking toys, robots, gold reindeers, gold bells, knitted jumpers, and colourful baubles.

Thanks very much Natalie for a lovely afternoon. You really put us in a festive mood. Can't wait for Christmas!!

A Baby Tree for a Baby Girl

December has finally arrived! The most magical month of all. And even if Emilia and I will be in Italy for most of the month, we thought it would still be nice to have a little Xmas tree in the house. And little it is! Happy December everyone!

Part of this year's decorations is a very sweet rocking horse that grandmum JoAnn gave to Emilia when she came to visit back in October. It's a lovely keepsake that I hope to pass to Emilia's baby one day...

It's a small world

Sometimes I should remind myself that we live in a small world...when I feel low and miss my family and friends I should just remember that they are around the corner, really. I can call them, email them, text them, tweet them, talk with them and see them via Skype or if I am feeling very low, I could even just book a cheap flight home. These days communication is so easy and flying around the world is very accessible and affordable.

I saw this embroidered wall hoop last night and it made me smile. How adorable is it? I should buy it and put it on my bed-side table to remind myself that we all sleep under the same sky.

Wood Basket

I don't have a fireplace in my flat in London but if I did, I would like to have one of these beautiful wood baskets!

December 1st

Happy December First everyone!
It is now time to start burning the Christmas candle. Do you have advent candles? If so, How are they? Where do you put them? I bougth mine on a recent trip to Vienna, it is a very traditional red and white advent candle with outlined white angels on it.
Certain traditions are just beautiful and should never end...

Christmas Feeling

I am finally starting to get into the Christmas feeling...
I wandered around Covent Garden at my lunch break and loved all the Christmas lights and decorations. There is nothing cosier and warmer than a Cath Kidston inspired Christmas!

How are you going to decorate your tree this year? I am thinking vintage and glittery decorations and lots of colourful and dotted candles!
