Not successful, but fun!

As some of you have been asking about last Saturday fair, I figured I would write a little post about it to sum up the events of the day.

As you all know, I was VERY VERY excited to be at this We Make London fair. It was my first experience and didn't really know what to expect.
Well, we booked a taxi to pick us up at 9.15am. The fair was held at Chelsea Old Town Hall, in King's Road and we live in the London Bridge area. It only took us 10 minutes to get there, so we decided to have breakfast, well our second breakfast, in a cafe' nearby. At 10.00 on the dot we are heading to the Hall. Lots of girls with big boxes and bags are all around, it's a sign that we are in the right place.

Chelsea Old Town Hall looks beautiful and there are so many crafters around, I am overwhelmed! And scared...I look around and all the stalls look so professionally set up, you can tell it's my first time! My supporters, Rob, Ilaria, Elena and Amy, keep telling me that my stall looks great but I can see the others, and they are better, much better! Lots of inspiration for next time :)

The weather was just glorious and as we feared, there were not many people around. I bet all Londoners were at the park! I would have gone to Regent's Park myself if I didn't have to be there! My good friends Mike and Natalie came by too, which was super nice, and it was very good to have a chat with them.

Despite the paucity of visitors and activity, the day went by very fast and I had lots of fun! I was very lucky to be surrounded by best friends and to have two lovely girls as neighbours, both stalls looked amazing. I met very talented artists and brilliant people. Didn't sell much but it was wonderful to be in such an inspiring place surrounded by beautiful handmade stuff.

I am now looking forward to the next one...

Circus - London

London will never bore me...

...on Friday night we went out with a couple of friends, Natalie and Dave. Natalie picked this VERY interesting place for the night. I was very intrigued, and so was Rob, quite obviously! Almost naked girls dancing on your table?? That sounds like his kinda place :)

From the outside, a simple black door in the middle of the small Endell street, you would never guessed what magical world is inside...Circus proved to be a very good choice for a Friday night out!

The performers were impressive! Beautiful and very talented women...

And despite what you may think, the performances were very tasteful with a spoon of witticism. I really really enjoyed it and would love to go back! Got a bit tipsy, but hey, that's part of the game :)

Oh London London, what else have you got in store for me??

Recession, what?

While most of us have experienced some tight budgeting in the last few months, while local shops shut down and not-so-small businesses (see Luella) go bankrupt, what do the nice people at LV do? They open the massive, gigantic, biggest store in the world in the ever-so-fashionable Bond Street, London.

It took three years to complete this massive flagship store and it is rumoured to have costed over £30 million!

I haven't visited it yet but from the pictures only two words come to mind: luxury and extravaganza!

In a recent interview to Grazia Louis Vuitton's boss, Yves Carcelle, said: "Our experience shows that each time there is a crisis, we gain market share. Perhaps people are more cautious in what they buy and they choose items with more care and attention". Well, this is not new to me...in fact, MY personal experience shows that every single time I should not be spending money, I end up shopping much more and buying more expensive, and sometimes useless, items. Is it because we tend to spend more when we are depressed? Is it because, by nature, we want everything we can't have?
Anyway, I know where I will be wandering around this weekend...Bond Street, here I come!

Inspired by Iceland

Inspired by Iceland Video from Inspired By Iceland on Vimeo.

I have just found this and must share!
Inspired by Iceland is a new project by the Icelandic government that encourages people to travel to Iceland and not be too scared of volcanos. Don't you love this video? I urge to go there!

Toms

Now, did you know that the good people at Toms are now making wedges too? If they are as confortable as the classic ones, they are going to be my next purchase. One problem only: red or blue stripes?

Can't get enough!

I just love RayBan sunglasses, for me they are the only cool sunglasses in the market. Forget about major brands, Gucci, Chanel, Dior, D&G, none of these have the quirkiness of this American-Italian brand.

I already have three pairs of RayBan and I am about to buy my fourth one. Howevere, I have just spotted this Limited Edition and am in love. Everything is right here: the shades of blue and the flowers are so in! Must have them too! Aren't they adorable?

USA trip

So, Rob and I have just got back from our annual trip to the States and as usual after a holiday, I am here to give you a report and offer some good tips!
Rob is originally from Baltimore, we therefore went there first and spent some good quality time with family and friends. We also had the opportunity to go to NYC for a couple of days and that was very nice.

I had been to New York before but I was really looking forward to this trip since Jen and Trent, two of Rob's best friends, were joining us for a double celebration of Rob and Jen's birthdays.
New York was really good, we did some shopping and ate at some very good resuarants. Among all, the one I was most impressed with is certainly The Spotted Pig, a little lovely place in the heart of Greenwich Village, definitely my cup of tea. The atmosphere there is simply beautiful and the food was really nice. I would recommend *Deviled Eggs*, they were mouth watering. We also tried the famous Del Frisco's, that didn't disappoint, The Coffe Shop and Megu. One interesting thing to tell you about Del Frisco's is that when we got back to our flat in London we found a little hand-written note from the waitress that served us there, thanking us for choosing them and hoping to see us soon. I thought that was super sweet and thoughtful! The waitresses at The Coffe Shop really were beautiful models and the presentation of the various dishes at Megu was superior.
Something else to mention about my culinary experience in NYC is definitely Magnolia bakery, the famous bakery from SATC and the Devil wears Prada. Rob and I bought two lovely cupcakes and slowly enjoyed them in the little park opposite the shop. It was a real treat!

Otherwise, we just walked around admiring the bustle and interesting architecture of the city.

Another highlight of this trip was a visit to St. Michael's, a little town on the Eastern shore of Maryland. Needless to say that I loved it: delicious seafood, small boutiques, cute cafe', fresh ice-cream shops, colourful wodden houses...what's not to like? Next time I want to go and spend at least a night in one of the fabulous inns for a total relax!

All in all it was a very nice trip. Now, it's just very difficult to go back to work...
