Thanksgiving 2013

As tradition now, Rob and I hosted a Thanksgiving Dinner on Thursday 28th. We have been doing it for over five years now and every year we look forward to a new evening of feasting, drinking and playing games with friends. This year it was all about family as my mum and grandmum flew from Italy to help me out with the cooking. It was their first Thanksgiving and they loved it. Also, my cousin and her family, who have recently moved to London, joined us, so Emilia had two little cousins to play with and she absolutely loved it.

Mum and grandmum landed early in the morning and by 11am they were home. A little bit of chit-chatting and then it was all about cooking-cooking-cooking. We had so much fun and I knew my mum and grandmum would have loved it. They both enjoy cooking and are great cooks, so there was absolutely no doubt the food would have been delicious. Rob helped a little bit too, so it was a true family affair!

Of course, as always, the turkey was the big star. We took great care of it and in the end, after more than five hours in the oven, it was absolutely to die for. Emilia was still up when we served the turkey and she even had a little bit of turkey and pumpkin. She was such a good host!I am proud of my little baby.

It was a lovely evening and I am so thankful to have such great people in my life: Rob and Emilia, my adorable family, and all my wonderful friends. I am really blessed.

The Best Godparents

Wow, it has been over two weeks since my last post. I am sorry!

Work has kept me busy lately but thankfully my very good friends Lorenzo and Federica were in town to help out with Emilia and make my days a bit lighter and certainly more joyful. Thank you guys! Lory and Fede are Emilia's godparents and we couldn't have made a better choice. Rob and I selected them way before Emilia was born and we knew they would have loved her beyond boundaries. So, they came and spent one full week with her: they cuddled, they played, they let her play with both their iphones (Emilia's obsession!) and they treated her to a nice lunch to Nandos and endless visits to the local Starbucks. You guys are the best and Emilia adores you!

Tech Geek

Emilia is crazy about gadgets. She was only one month old when she started to go nuts for tv remotes. When we ran out of ideas on how to entertain her, we would hand the remote to her and voila', a big smile would appear on her face. Other gadgety things that have always put a big smile on her face are the oven, the light switches, the ipod, and let's not even begin to talk about her passion for computers and mobile phones. It took me over thirty years to get an iphone and Emilia, at the age of one!, is already familiar with most of its functionality. The kid is a geek: let's not forget that one of her very first words was Google!

Recently, she has also discovered the washing machine. Now that she can stand on her own more comfortably,  she has become more curious about what's in reach. Before, she used to look at the washing machine from her high chair, she just observed me every time I was using it. She was curious. Lately she has come to action and enjoyed some time  investigating this big piece of technology that spins things around and makes a lot of noise. It didn't take her long to figure out how to open it, turn it on and select the programme.

Troubles, and big bills, ahead!

Best of Last

Life has been a bit crazy lately. Rob and I have been working hard, entertained guests, and tried to keep our little one happy during a couple of painful weeks of teething as well as a nasty cold. With all this going on, there has been very little time to spare. But I know some of you check this blog regularly and I am sorry for the lack of news.

While you wait for more, here is one of Emilia's latest pictures. My dad took it while he was here and I love it! As you can see, Emilia is no longer a little baby, she is really turning into a proper little girl now. And, she even kissed a boy! But more on this later...
