First time at the beach!

Sorry for the long silence, folks, but we are in Pescara! We arrived one week ago and are truly enjoying the relaxation that only a beach town can offer, which also means, no computer in usel! In all honesty, Rob and I left everything and everyone for a few days and enjoyed a lovely holiday in Tuscany, just the two of us (pictures to come!). But we are now back.

While we were away, my parents took Emilia to the beach and from the pictures below, you can see how much fun she has had. She is a natural at the beach; she loves the sand and the sea, and has been making friends with all th babies and kids around her. She is a true Italian!

One week with Rachel

As I mentioned before, Rob' sister, Rachel, was here in London last week and we all spent one nice week together. Emilia absolutely loved all the extra attention and it was nice to have someone to share our daily life with.

It was the first time Rachel came to London, so there was quite a bit of sightseeing to do. And Rachel was on a mission and was able to see most of the main London attraction. Every day she would have a plan and explored the city. And thankfully, she seemed to enjoy London very much (well, who doesn't?).

As we live in a very central location, it wasn't too difficult for her to get around. Of course, our own area have some impressive bits to see. One night, Rachel and I took a short walk to the Tower Bridge which is ever so beautiful at night and enjoyed the views of the city under a hundred lights!

We were also able to enjoy some nice walks together as well as a proper Afternoon Tea at the Milestone Hotel. This was a much grander affair than the usual afternoon teas I have with my girlfriends but it was definitely nice and Rachel seemed to like it very much.

But of course, one of the main reasons why Rachel was in town is Emilia! So, the two of them got to spend some quality time together, mostly playing on the floor or in bed with Rachel's ipad. Also, Rachel got Emilia some new toys while wandering around the city. My absolute favourite ones are the wooden bus, cab, and police car. Aren't they super duper cute?

And when we were not in the house, a stroll to the park and the playground was a must do! Emilia really enjoys the swing, just like her mummy!

On her last day in town, we also attempted a brunch out with Emilia. I used to love to go out for a nice brunch on Sunday morning but I don't mind saying that now that Emilia is in the picture, even a simple trip to the local cafe' can be a bit of an adventure. Let me just say that my scrambled eggs were all over my shirt and trousers! But this is part of the game, isn't it?

Thanks so much aunt Rachel for coming to visit us. It was lovely to have you with us and we hope to see you again soon!

Oral Hygiene

Here is a closer up of Emilia's teeny tiny first two teeth:

Since their first appearance, about a month ago, these two teeth have been cutting thorough the gums and are every day more visible. It's so cute to see Emilia with teeth, she is really turning into a proper person now, she is no longer a baby!

And now that she has teeth, we have introduced a new activity to our daily routine: tooth brushing! And Lory, if you are reading this, you may be happy to know that your god-daughter absolutely loves brushing her little teeth. In fact, she gets a little too deep in my opinion, it can take her several minutes before she is done cleaning them real good! She must be taking it from you! Have you been giving her private lessons on Oral Hygiene already? :)

Aunt Rachel is "in da house"!

Rob's sister, Rachel, arrived to London yesterday morning and has been playing with Emilia and giving her all the attention she needs from the first minute she walked into the flat. Thankfully, Emilia didn't go through the original *stranger-danger* phase and welcomed her sweet auntie with a lovely smile! It may have helped that Rachel literally showered her with gifts, but it is clear anyway that she loves her aunt and enjoys playing with her.

So, Rachel arrived yesterday morning. After playing a bit, we had a quick lunch and then we left the flat to allow Rachel to rest a bit and get over her jet-lag. Emilia, Rob and I walked to St. Katherine's Docks to do some food shopping and I had to take some pictures. The weather was gorgeous and I love wandering around the docks. Don't you just love this area? I wish we could have hopped onto our own boat!

Pub and playground go together like sausage and mash!

Today we had another great day in London. The sun was shining (still is, in fact!), the sky was blue and the temperature was just perfect! Despite the fact that it's Saturday, Rob had to work, so we couldn't do too much, however, we couldn't stay inside the flat all day! Thankfully, our friends Ryan, Leslie and the kids were wandering around our area, so we met up with them, walked to Rotherhite Village, visited the oldest pub on the Thames, the lovely Mayflower, and hit the playground where we all had great fun!

Today Emilia experienced two new things: a typical English pub and the swing! Here are two things I would have never thought to put together! Not sure about the pub, but she absolutely loved the swing. I predict more visits to the playground...

I'll have whatever he is having!

11 months!

Emilia turns 11 months today!

voila, I can stand!
can you see my two tiny tiny teeth?!
hard to believe I turn 11 months old today!
Thankfully, I don't work on Fridays, which means I could spend the whole day with the birthday girl. We were home in the morning and didn't do too much since Emilia slept for two hours from 10.00 to 12.00 (not complaining!). But then, we spent the whole afternoon outside with our friends Katharina and little Elias. The weather was lovely and we took a nice stroll to Rotherhite Village. We first stopped at a local pub to have some lunch. The owners of the pub have a nine months old girl, so babies are welcome! They have a sweet little garden where we had lunch and Katharina was entertaining the kids with some good, old German stories.

We then went to a nearby park, had a coffee at a lovely cafe' and played on the grass. As usual, we had a great time together, Elias and Emilia are really growing together and they are so cute when they try to communicate with each other. I wonder if they can really understand each other when they say: oh-uh, uh-oh! They are super super sweet!
